The town of Karlštejn is on many peoples list of places to visit because of Karlštejn Castle.
Founded in 1348 by Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor, the Karlštejn Castle was originally used as a private residence and place of safekeeping for his royal treasures.
Today, the castle is one of the most popular travel destinations in the Czech Republic and makes for a great day trip from the city of Prague.
When touring the castle you can opt for a shorter or longer tour. If you take the longer 70 minute tour you’ll see the Hall of Knights, the Imperial Place, the Chapel of St. Nicolas, the Royal Bedroom, the Audience Hall, the Chapels and Churches, and the Library.
