How many days should
I visit Budapest for?

For some, months or even years is not enough. For first time visitors, anywhere from 3-4 days is enough to take in the city and go on a few day trips.

When's the best
time to visit Budapest?

Budapest attracts alot of visitors each year especially during the summer months. Try to visit Budapest either in the spring or fall for lower travel rates and significantly shorter lines at attractions.

How much
does Budapest cost?

On average, backpacking in Budapest costs about $40 a day.

Is it safe
to visit Budapest?

For the most part, Budapest is safe to visit.  However, as with most big cities, pickpockets can be a problem, so be extra cautious when in touristy areas.

Do I need to
know Hungarian?

It’s not necessary to know Hungarian as most people you meet can also speak English.
Don’t be a tacky tourist though, learn some common Hungarian phrases before you go.

What currency
does Hungary use?

Hungary uses the Forint as their currency.  One US dollar is worth approximately 422 HUF.

Hungary is part of the Schnegen Agreement which allows open borders between many European countries.

However, if you're traveling for longer than 90 days, you need to be aware of certain restrictions that may affect your trip.
